Off lately I have been attracted to the colour black and silver. During my last sojourn I ended up buying 5 silver earrings, among which 4 turned out to have a dash of black somewhere. Usually I pick my earrings based on outfit demands and colours all the while maintaining individuality in pattern and quality. The silver /black is a classic combination but, doesn't go well with most of my outfits. I have lots of black in my wardrobe but pairing them with silver/black seems little forced.

I need to get my hands on gold/rustic finish earrings. For now feast you eyes on a black/silver chandelier earring.

PEARLED!!

My initial enthusiasm didn't survive the week's work onslaught...it's dead and I am making a vane attempt to post cause I have to. Sometimes, writing both inside and outside office can drain out lot of creative juices. As the blog name suggests I thought I would begin the series with a post on pearl earring .Unfortunately, I don't own any.... so, I went into my room and searched through my jewelery box ,repeatedly muttering the word "PEARL" .Viola!!!!after 15 minutes of search,all off a sudden I knew, which picture would compliment this post. Lets get over the fact that the image isn't really a real pearl but , in reality just a white bead.Still.....






The earring is a thrift purchase from Big Baazar, Kovai. I so love its shape, also its my first choice of accessory with white chudidhar. The antique finish and small beads in the center portion add to its charm.

A new beginning

Okie my first tryst with fashion blogging. I have been blogging since 2006, for me blog is a medium where I could rant continuously without interruption, or speak out without having to think about consequences. This blog is a tribute to the vast collection of earrings I own. I have ones that are past their expiry date(worn lost/lost sheen/broken etc etc) but, I refuse to part with any owing to sentimental attachment. Each of ma earrings have a story behind them and the collection that I am going to showcase is acquired/gifted/chosen with love over the years.

I was wondering on a suitable name for my blog .The other one is conveniently called MIRROR , I wanted the blog header to reflect the mood of the blog as such. After much Googling and discussion with friends , I have come up with the name "Girl with a Pearl Earring".A 2003 movie directed by Peter Webber that portrays a young peasant maid working in the house of painter Johannes Vermeer becomes his talented assistant and the model for one of his most famous works.



Went a little back in time and have dug out some interesting info from wiki.The original portrait GIRL WITH A PEARL EARRING (Dutch: Het Meisje met de Parel)was mastermind of one of the Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer.As the name implies, uses a pearl earring for a focal point. Today the painting is kept in the Mauritshuis gallery in the Hague. It is sometimes referred to as "the Mona Lisa of the North" or "the Dutch Mona Lisa".
