Looking Back at My First Sephora Order

Thursday, February 28, 2019

First time shopping from Sephora US is always special, especially for a makeup-crazy consumer like me. Back in 2015, the Indian beauty market didn't have much options as far as international makeup was concerned. I placed my first online order in 2015, and shipped the item to G's cousin's place.

And! my first order was rejected! My Credit Card was rejected as the order was above 100 dollars. Later I figured out the whole loophole of placing smaller orders of lower values. Let us go back in time and see if any of the items are still in my Favs list after 4 years!

Order 1

Urban Decay Naked On The Run Palette l $54 (Discontinued)

The kit contained 5 eyeshadows, bronzer, blush, highlighter, lipgloss, eye pencil, and mascara, all packed in a rock-heavy packaging. The eyeshadows were beautiful, and the kit did have some stand out product like 24/7 Glide on Pencil that I used and abused. The whole packaging was very bulky and after 2 years, I passed it on to my little sister.

Samples

The samples however, I do own both the perfumes in full size; I even finished my bottle of Marc Jacobs Daisy perfume.

Order 2

Urban Decay Brow Box l $30

Favs? Ooh ya! Urban Decay Brow Box is an absolute gem. I am on my second brow box. The brow powder is my perfect eyebrow color, has mini tools that can be a life-saver on the go. The only gripe? "PACKAGING". The old packaging is similar to the NARS one, means, after a while the rubberized packaging starts to stick. Urban Decay has released V2 of the brow box and this time around, the new packaging is plastic. They have also introduced new shades to cater to wider consumer base.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Spooley 7 l $18

The ABH Brush is a must-have, especially if you are using the brow pomade. I hardly use it nowadays, as I have switched to UD brow powder. However, I do feel, there are other brushes in the market that serve the same purpose at a much lighter price tag.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit l $40

I have hardly used this kit. God knows why, I placed the order for this one. Not that the product itself is bad, but I hardly could use the whole kit. I just wanted a good contour product and this kit was in rage at that time. I had ordered Too Faced Cocoa Contour Chiseled to Perfection, the first time around but later, changed the item and ordered this. I have now de-cluttered the item from my vanity. With experience, I much prefer a single item that does the job than use a heavy and bulky item (kit). Currently, I use Too Faced Chocolate Soleil as my choice of bronzer.

Order 3

Tarte Poppy Picnic Palette l $38 (Discontinued)

The Tarte palette was such a stunner. The product is too old to use and hence sitting pretty on my vanity. I used to use the brown shades (eyeshadow) for my eyebrows back in the day. The blush was a little light for my skin tone (sparkly dusty rose), but still pretty. I don't own any other Tarte palette but I am a convert Tarte Blush addict.

Benefit Bronze of the Champions Kit l $32 (Discontinued)

The palette is definitely geared towards a light to medium skin tone consumer. With my first Sephora order, the whole idea was to get maximum bang for my bucks and I ended up choosing kits. When saw this kit in real life, not one item in this kit caught my fancy. The much raved Hoola Bronzer was literally a NO-SHOW on my face. The What's Up highlighter was so hard that it would hardly apply smoothly on my face. 'They're Real' mascara was the only saving grace in this kit. I still regret this purchase to this day. It was not a bad kit in theory, but certainly a flop show in reality.

So, have you used any of these products?
