May Favs and Flops

Thursday, June 15, 2017

Hello, MID-June. This year is just swooshing past like my monthly bank balance. It took me a while to click the lackluster photos { Kerala Monsoons ⛈, you can challenge me another day} and hence, the 10-day delay in posting. So, here are my favs and flops for the month of May.

FAVS

Tarte Shape Tape Contour Concealer l $25

Ok, for the first time in forever, I have to nod my head in agreement. There is a reason why the whole beauty community is raving about the Tarte Shape Tape Concealer and that reason is: It's Freaking AMAZING!!! *stops hyperventilating*

I purchased the shade, Tan Sand which is exactly similar to my skin tone, I don't necessarily use concealer 2 shades lighter under my eyes, it's more of a natural hide-those-dark-circles kinda process for me. This shade works perfectly well for that purpose. The product does smell nice, and the wand on the applicator is huge and can dispense too much product if you are not careful.

Comes in a convenient packaging and I apply few tiny dots on the dark circles and blend with my PAC concealer brush. I haven't been able to cover the entire darkness though, reasons being:

a. I am not color correcting kinda person.
b. I use very little product.

This is definitely a full coverage concealer and you can definitely go the whole 9 yards with this one if required.

Caudalie Moisturizing Sorbet Cream l $39

Caudalie is a brand that I was introduced to recently. I bought a value set, that contained the moisturizer along with few other skin essentials. I have been loving the moisturizer. The smell is refreshing and the product glides on smoothly and makes my skin plump and hydrated. I am an oily skin girl, and for me, hydration means soft skin.

One major gripe though, I have to use a little more that peanut size product to cover my entire face <talk about being a fat face>, no really, so, I am not sure how long the tube will last. Definitely, purchasing the full size during the November sale.

Inglot YSM Cream Foundation l INR 1100

Oldie but a goodie. This is by far the best medium coverage foundation I own, the color match is spot on and so is the finish. The finish is satin and I wear the shade 52. The shade has the perfect undertone for medium to tan skin. Stays without breaking up on me for 4 hours (Note: I am extremely oily).

FLOPS

Forever 21 Charcoal Blotting Paper l INR 149

How does it feel like to rub paper on the face, well, buy the blotting paper and find it out yourself. This does nothing for my face, leave the blotting part, the only saving grace, the packaging. The outer package has cute yogi cats that lure unsuspecting oily girls into their trap.

Milk Makeup Liquid Strobe in Gleam l $24

My bashing is solely based on the miniature that I received in the Sephora Sunkissed Glow Favs set. First, the roller ball packaging, I mean the product is thick, making it difficult to use with the roller ball. Hardly any product comes out after 5 minutes of vigorous hitting, and then what comes out is a sparkly mess of glitters. I get the whole highlighting trend, but the excessive sparkly glow, well, no thank you ji!

Forever 21 Accessory Haul: Part 1

Tuesday, September 22, 2015

There very few brands in India that provide in-fashion affordable jewellery. There are few in-house brands like Ginger, Toniq, and fewer brands online that are cater to this unique accessory loving clientele.

Forever 21 is a one-stop shop that satisfies your accessory cravings. Midi rings, body chains, geometrical jewellery, you name it, they have it. I somehow prefer their online store in comparison to their brick n mortar one. Anyone who has had an experience would agree, as the stores are chaotic to say the least, and it takes hours and hours browsing through the stuff to find things that you like. I recently placed an online order (multiple, to be frank). With the new stocks added daily to the New Arrivals and Sales section, one is tempted to log into the website and check for good deals every single day. I made few orders over the last few weeks, and thought it would be a great idea to do a collective accessory haul. I purchased few statement necklaces as well as few dainty and boho pieces that I can dress up or dress down with.

Layered Elephant Pendant Necklace
This is what forced me to place a second order. The antique gold finish, dual strand coin necklace features a cute baby elephant, a turquoise tassel, and a tusk-shaped pendant. The upper strand has a Moroccon inspired pendant.
Original Price: INR 469 ($7)
Sale Price: INR 200 ($3)

Free Spirit Beaded Necklace
A long layered necklace featuring turquoise and golden beads. Very Boho looking neck piece. Team it with a white lace shift dress and a fedora.

Elephant Frenzy Choker
A choker that features elephant heads with rhinestone trim. You will realise that I went a lil cray-cray over elephant inspired jewellery this time.

Sale Price: FREE (Buy 1, get 1 free)

Gone Boho Beaded Necklace
A long delicate chain necklace featuring beaded trim.I quite didn't like the trim.
Original Price: INR 469 ($7)

Layered Medallion Statement Necklace
Instagram is filled with such boho neckpieces and the price ranges from 1000-2000. You won't believe how much I got this neck piece for!
Original Price: INR 749 ($11)
Sale Price: INR 380 ($5)

Triangle Statement Necklace

A very delicate statement neck piece that features a mix of rhinestone and faux gemstone triangle. You can wear this with a plain tee to dress it up. Somehow, these remind me of bees.
Original Price: INR 889 ($13)
Sale Price: INR 350 ($5)

Coin Fringe Pendant Necklace
Exhumes a vintagy boho charm, the favorite buy off the lot.
Original Price: INR 749 ($12)
Sale Price: INR 350 ($5)

Faux Pearl & Bead Necklace

This layered necklace has five layers of faux pearls and faceted beads. One of the links came broken, aaghr....This statement piece would look great with an A-line dress and high heels.

Original Price: INR 749 ($11)

Marbled Faux Pearl Necklace
A short three layered faux pearl necklace that features splattered paint finish.Very Parisian chic. I can totally visualize wearing this necklace with a A-line, fit and flare dress. Does this remind anyone of Kangana Ranaut's necklace from I Love New Year?

Original Price: INR 749 ($11)

I have part-2 lined up for you guys next week :)

PS: Thanks to Mr. G for helping me out with clicking the pictures.

Black and Gold

Saturday, October 13, 2012

This is something that I got from F21, KL. Iv not worn it even once, but I do intent to in coming weeks. In another news, I finally managed to order something from ASOS. That is after, whole lot of panic attacks, begging and pleading. Thankfully, my hubby darling allowed me to lay my hands on his plastic card.

Going BOLD!!!

Tuesday, January 3, 2012

Happy new year people :) . While the whole world celebrated new year in style, I was fast asleep on my comfy bed, then I visited my extended family on 1st. Not a regal way to celebrate New year huh?!!.
I went to MAX retail on Sunday (1/1/2012) with my brother, who had some last minute shopping to be done before the start of his new semester. All the while we were in the shop I was ogling a wide belt (Retail price: INR 500) which was a must have item in my wish list and some pretty floral shrugs too well, I nibbled my the shopping bud and promised myself that I would start saving Money.

Swarnali from  Dreams n Drama  requested me to do a post with a pic of moi wearing an earring. I am camera shy but, being new year I thought "Why not?". Here is my vain attempt:

This earring of mine is nearly 3 years old, bought it back in 2009 for my Btech graduation party. The earring was so heavy that I couldn't fathom the idea of wearing em quite often as I should be. Recently when I got a chance to flaunt them, I did and I am so glad with the outcome. When I am wearing a heavy earring like that, I prefer to keep my neck bare much to my mom's dismay.

On a random note, I can't keep my mind off these beauties :Multi-strand statement necklaces. Sigh!!! wish I haven't had shopping constrains:(.

I love love love exploring the vast expansiveness, the retail world has to offer. I can spend an entire day doing nothing but, just gazing at these picture and recreating various looks up in my head. I follow a large number of fashion bloggers and I have noticed quite a few names that come up quite often in accessories section. So, I took a plunge and typed away Forever21 which opened up a bright, cheery, colorful world filled with accessories. And from what I saw up until page 30(Was too tired after that) these are few earring that I loved.

The black finish hoop, perfect for a night out with girlfriends.

Elegance and poise two words that strikes me when I see this beauty. Perfect with a log chiffon gown.

Hippie style, something that I would wear to college ( 2 years..*sigh*).

Forever21 has this whole section devoted to feathers.Personally, I am not comfortable wearing feathers in my ears.Nevertheless this edgy peacock earrings are a sure shot head turner at cocktail parties.

The feather earrings shouts elegance, something like this I would wear for a dinner date.
The fun earrings are perfect for a day-mall shopping spree. Casual and laid back.
The earrings remind me of my office, simple and perfect for those must impress power meetings.
I would wear these red beauties with a plain kurtha and let my earrings do all the talking :).
Again an Indianised earring, something as gorgeous as this should be paired with a no fuss churidhar so that the earrings will stand out.
Aah!!! last but not the least a gorgeous beaded hoop (This one steals my heart ). Wear it with a simple gold pallu saree and you are all set to rock the family function.

Do you have any ideas on how these beauties can be styled?. If so do let me know. Well, Forever21 doesn't have shipping to India (*Sob*). I have to go all the way to Delhi if I have to get my hands on these beauties which I will be in a months time :).

PS:- All the above earrings costs less than $5.00 ie, Rs.250 max which is way less than what I pay for my normal earrings.
